Learn How to Plan for an Uncertain Future

58: What If the Life You’re Waiting For Is Already Happening? | Peace Is Every Step by Thich Nhat Hanh Badass Books and Besties

Happy New Year! I hope you had the most wondrous time celebrating the new year of 2023 and spent some time thinking of all the good and bad you experienced in 2022! Yes, I did say the bad – it’s always good to think over what you enjoyed and what made you feel emotional. It helps you see all that you have overcome and achieved…AND makes it so much better to see what you plan to accomplish in the next year.

Can you believe we are even here in the new year ALREADY? I swear, it’s so cliché, but the years, they go by so fast! I remember in high school there was a chance our motto was going to be a quote by Andy Rooney, “I’ve learned that life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer it gets to the end, the faster it goes.”

Now, no offense against Andy, but it just sounded so terrible – I didn’t want to envision life as one big roll of toilet paper…that’s for wiping one’s butt only, you know what I’m saying?

I inquired if we could offer another suggestion and THANKFULLY it was approved: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” That quote has always been one I’ve really enjoyed thinking about. I also like the one that says, “When life knocks you down, roll over and look up at the stars.”

And speaking of stars, let’s go ahead and remember Carl Sagan who once said, “We are made of star stuff.”

Alrighty, friends – now that we’ve had some inspirational quotes to start our episode off right,  I hope you’ve had a chance to listen to Episode 6 – How to Plan for Your Most Badass Year – I shared some fantastic ideas on how you can create the life you’ve envisioned and truly experience a life changing year. There’s so much goodness in that episode, so I hope you’ll give it a listen.

So – for today’s episode, I am excited to introduce you to my mother. No, this is not going to be a therapy session, or one where we share our tear filled memories with each other.

Nope – in this interview you’ll learn a little about who she is, but more specifically about her journey as a Prepper (a person who prepares for something – in this case, “when shit hits the fan” or a disaster strikes where you need to prepare for the worst).

You’ll gain the following takeaways:

  • How to prepare for when “shit hits the fan” or when the unexpected might happen
  • The importance of researching different skill sets and strategies to ensure you can survive on your own
  • How to create a Bug Out Bag, which is a bag you keep stocked and ready for when an emergency strikes and you need to get the hell out of where you are
  • Resources of where to learn more information to help you prepare
  • How to utilize items in your home to create what you need (you won’t have to spend a ton of money to be ready!)
  • The exact steps to take to create your own supply of food & necessities for at least 6 months to a year
  • The value in studying the natural resources in your area that can be as used as food and medicine

And so much more!

I really hope you learn so much value in this interview with my mom!
