I love to listen to Podcasts. I learn so much from each one and it gives me new insight into my life, as well as what I want for my future. I have subscribed to so many of them that I often wonder if I will be able to listen to every one that I want to. I should make it a goal to hear at least one a day, but the drive to work doesn’t take too long and listening to music takes precedence instead.
A few of my favorites are “Don’t Keep Your Day Job,” “Goal Digger,” “How I Built This,” “RISE Podcast,” “TED Talks Daily,” and “The Science of Happiness.” I have a lot more that I am subscribed to, but these are the ones I find myself listening to most often.
Recently, in either a podcast or a motivational book I read, there were questions asked that got me thinking about who I am and what I want to do with my life. The questions were:
What do I want to experience in my whole life time? What do I want my legacy to be? What excites me and ignites my soul?
Great questions! This really got my juices flowing and I decided to write up a list of what I want to do in this lifetime, goals that I have, and things I really do want to accomplish. This is not an exhaustive list, but rather one that is fluid and one that I plan to update often. It’s a great place to start — thinking of what you want to do and where you want to be…so motivating! #crushinggoals #motivation #liveyourbestlife #happiness
It’s also not in any particular order, as some goals mean more to me than others.
- Travel the world as much as possible. I want to visit every state, every country, and see the seven wonders. I would also love to see the places listed in the book, “1,000 Places to See Before You Die.” I hate the title, but the meaning behind the concept really inspires me to want to travel!!
- Help other women feel empowered to live their best life. I want women to know their full worth and that they are an important part of society.
- Be the best wife I can be to my husband. Treat him with the absolute love and respect he deserves..
- Be best friends with my daughter and future child (not pregnant yet). As for my daughter, I want her to know how important she is to me and how thankful I am to have her. She is the sweetest, kindest, most loving little girl I have ever met. She has learned so much and has been the best daughter I could have ever asked for. I always knew I wanted a girl; at the gender reveal party, I cried tears of absolute JOY because I was so excited that my dream was coming true. Raising a girl is such a blessing. People often remark that girls are easy to raise until they reach middle school and the tween years, but we will see. I believe that if I show her absolute love and care that she will always be kind and gentle, but I do know this is a naive way to think. I think I was a pretty easy going girl growing up, so maybe we will get lucky.
- Be able to have an open schedule to where I don’t have to take off work when I need. I want to be able to travel/see/family when I choose and not have to worry about accumulating leave time. As a school counselor, I have a lot of time off – spring break, summer, Thanksgiving, and winter break – which is AWESOME, but I would rather be able to spend more time at home with my family instead.
- Read all of the books on my “To Read” list; it’s a long one, and there are always more added, but I just need to put time on the calendar devoted to reading every day. Reading is so important and essential in our lives and I love when I can spend time doing it. Being able to review books and share my favorites with others is an absolute plus.
- Learn to play the piano. I used to play when I was younger; I even had had a couple recitals in my memory, but I am unsure why I stopped. The sad part is that I don’t recall any of what I learned. I couldn’t tell you what the different notes mean or how to read music. HOWEVER, I think piano music sounds beautiful…I love the sound of the keys being played in isolation or in a beautiful succession. Listen to the ending of “The Dance” by Garth Brooks and tell me you won’t get all misty eyed.
- Write more; whether it is short stories, novels, reviews, or blogs. Be able to share my thoughts, hopes, dreams, motivations, pitfalls…all of it with the world. This is why I am so thankful I decided to start this blog (after encouragement from my amazing Business Coach); this is such a wonderful opportunity to share my thoughts with others and share my love my love of books (book reviews to be coming soon!)
- Move to the mountains. This will be accomplished when I move to the west on or before June 2021. This has been a goal of mine ever since I was little; my dad took my sister and I to the mountains of North Carolina and I just fell in love. We would pan for gold, travel around the different mountain towns, and just enjoy all that nature has to offer. Years later, a friend of mine took me to Colorado and I have wanted to go back ever since. When my husband and I got married, we took our honeymoon in Denver and he fell in love as well. We finally decided that we would move there and I am so looking forward to exploring a new place with my family.
- Practice psychic abilities. This one has always been something very intriguing to me and I have wanted to explore clairvoyance and mediumship (more on this to come later).
- Go to music festivals and experience everything…all of the music, the workshops, the vibe…I love it ALL. Being completely immersed in the positive vibes, the music flowing through you, and being with my best friend really revitalizes my soul.
- Be able to buy clothes that I want to without worrying about the cost. It’s not that I want to buy expensive clothes or that I even have a lot that I want to buy. It’s just that I want to be able to see an item of clothing that I would like to buy or even something else that I would like to purchase without fear of damaging my bank account. It’s just hard to want certain things and not want to spend money on them. However, I am not a big spender either; I would rather spend money on traveling instead!!
- Find ways to encourage people to recycle more. I recycle almost everything that I can, but I am sure that some of the items are unable to be recycled. I believe it just takes time and effort to analyze what you are throwing away, and people may not want to bother with it. I wish I could just find some way to make recycling easier so that more people did. This kind of shit gives me anxiety! I can’t take it when I learn how much waste is thrown away…it literally gives me anxiety attacks. I also wish that we could rid the world of Styrofoam; how in the world are we still using it when we know it doesn’t biodegrade?!
- Help students understand life skills and what they want to do with their lives – this one comes at the end, but it’s not the last thing I think of. As a school counselor, I see first hand the NEED that students have to understand the world around them. We shove TEST AFTER TEST in their faces and don’t take the time to TEACH them about the world. We have some phenomenal teachers in this country and we need to let them do the job they intend to do…not proctor tests!
Wow, what an exhaustive list!! I sure have a lot on my mind to accomplish and do in this world. What are some goals that you would like to accomplish in your life? What is your vision for your future life?
