Atomic Habits by James Clear – Book Recommendation

Do you often struggle with making and keeping habits? Do you wish there was an effective strategy that could make you feel more accomplished because you’re actually meeting your goals?

I have so many great ideas of what I WANT to do, but then I can’t stay motivated enough to take the action steps needed to complete the task. Email, for example, can be my worst enemy. I often “check” my email, but fail to read or delete them. Then, I end up with 57934862 emails that I clog up my Inbox. Anyone else have this problem?!

Maybe we should take notes from You’ve Got Mail on how to make reading and responding to emails more fun…

Besides tackling your emails, are you looking to form a new habit or break an old one? “Atomic Habits” by James Clear seeks to create an actionable system in your life to increase the behaviors you wish to add to your life. (Find the book here.)

There are four steps to creating a new behavior: Cue, Craving, Response, Reward. Wondering what all that means?

To learn more about how to apply this idea, watch this video created by Shortform. Shortform is a company I’ve recently discovered that summarizes a variety of different non-fiction texts, so that you have the opportunity to learn more, without adding more time to your schedule. What did you think? Did you find this method to be helpful? What is a habit you are hoping to increase or decrease?
